The “old” EUPSA was an association of European Paediatric Surgical Societies and was the “EUropean Paediatric Surgeons Associations”.

In 2002, Michael Höllwarth from Graz, Austria was elected as the first President of the “old” EUPSA and founded the “new” EUPSA which is the Association of individual Pediatric Surgeons, thereby keeping the acronym EUPSA as the “EUropean Paediatric Surgeons’ Association”.

In 2003, during the 5th Congress in Tours, France the new EUPSA was constituted. Since then, EUPSA has become one of the largest Pediatric Surgical Organization with global membership.
