Dear Colleagues and Friends,
We would like to inform you about some of the most recent news and upcoming activities of EUPSA.
We had a very successful Annual Congress in Limassol with 566 delegates from 60 countries presenting 140 oral presentations, 24 case report presentations and 288 posters. We would like to thank once again Prof. Zacharias Zachariou and his team for organizing such a successful meeting with high scientific value and a rich social programme.
Intensive activities to prepare the 19th Annual EUPSA Congress on June 20-23, 2018 in Paris are on its way. Prof. Jean-Michel Guys and Prof Arnaud Bonnard are working very hard to ensure a perfect meeting. The abstract submission will open November 1, 2017 and the deadline is January 31, 2017. Abstracts accepted for the Congress will be notified by the end of February 2017.
The Meeting will be an exceptional scientific opportunity because it will be held in collaboration with the French Society and the Francophone Societies of Pediatric Surgery.
In the Paris Congress Scientific Programme, the European Congress Lecture will be presented by Jan Deprest, EJPS Lecture by Sabrine Sarnacki and Duhamel Lecture by Benno Ure. Meet the expert lunch topics are: Crohn’s disease by Risto Rintala, Redo hypospadias by Ala El Ghoneimi and Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia by Paul Losty. We are very much looking forward to receiving many interesting papers and establishing an exciting program. In addition, there will be again a “EUPSA Young Investigator Award” for trainees and a “Case Report Session” with prizes for the best case reports.
Please note that the EUPSA annual membership fees have been increased to 75 Euros during the General Assembly in Limassol. This decision had to be taken due to increased administrative costs and for the fact that the fees had not been increased over the past 5 years. EUPSA membership fees are due for renewal for 2018 in order to have a reduced EUPSA member Congress registration fee (100 € less) .We would appreciate our members to continue to take advantage of the EUPSA benefits and advertise these amongst their colleagues.
We would like to remind you that EUPSA offers ongoing activities to promote education. Interested trainees are encouraged to apply for the “EUPSA Education Exchange Program”. The “EUPSA Visiting International Pediatric Surgeons Program” is open to EUPSA members who would like to contribute their services to the further development of pediatric surgery in Eastern Europe. Numerous EUPSA approved courses, workshops and seminars are offered all over Europe. The details and other news from the Education Office can be found on the EUPSA website. GYPSE, the young colleague group has started their activity and are inviting all the junior and young surgeons to join them.
EUPSA would like to ask for your support in future activities. Several office positions will be vacant and we will inform you about more details in the upcoming newsletter. We will greatly appreciate your involvement and suggestions.
We would like to warmly invite you to come to Paris in 2018 and look very much forward to seeing you in France.
