Dear EUPSA Members,

Following extensive discussions and a comprehensive evaluation process, the Executive Board of the European Paediatric Surgeons’ Association (EUPSA) had to reach a decision regarding the future official journal of our Association.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all publishers and journals that submitted proposals and engaged constructively throughout this process. The quality of the offers received was exceptionally high and reflects the strong international reputation and influence of EUPSA within the global paediatric surgical community.

After careful consideration of all proposals received, scientific impact, international visibility, publishing opportunities for our members, educational value, and the long-term strategic interests of EUPSA, the Executive Board has decided to enter into collaboration with Elsevier’s Journal of Pediatric Surgery (JPS) as the official journal associated with EUPSA.

This decision was reached following a structured assessment process and extensive deliberations, with the primary objective of securing the best possible scientific and educational platform for EUPSA and its members.

The Executive Board is convinced that collaboration with the Journal of Pediatric Surgery will provide significant benefits to EUPSA members through increased international visibility, access to a highly respected and widely read journal, enhanced educational opportunities, and a strong platform for the dissemination of high-quality paediatric surgical research.

During the recent General Assembly, several members expressed their interest in receiving additional information regarding the journal selection process and its outcome. Furthermore, some members requested that a formal vote of the membership be conducted before a final decision was made. The Executive Board remains fully committed to transparency, member engagement, and open dialogue.

Consequently, the Executive Board is planning to convene an Extraordinary General Assembly dedicated to this topic. Such a meeting would provide an appropriate forum for discussion and exchange of views among the membership. Further information regarding the date and modalities of the Extraordinary General Assembly will be communicated to EUPSA members soon.

With kind regards,

Udo Rolle (President) – Paolo De Coppi (Past President) – Gonca Tekant (President Elect) – Augusto Zani (Honorary Secretary)
