The history of the European Paediatric Surgeons’ Association (EUPSA) dates back to 1995 when the former Organization named “European Paediatric Surgical Associations” was founded and organized the 1st European Congress of Paediatric Surgery in Graz, Austria.
In 2002, Michael Höllwarth was elected as first President of the “European Paediatric Surgical Associations” and proposed on the occasion of the 5th Congress in Tours, France in 2003 the foundation of the new “European Paediatric Surgeons’ Association” as it exists today.
Although the acronym EUPSA remained the same, the past Organization of Associations is now an Association of individual members. After the 6th Congress in Gdansk, Poland in 2005, the EUPSA Congresses have become Annual events.
